# Privacy Policy — dm-jcox-link
*Effective November 5, 2026*
dm-jcox-link ("the app") is a private, non-commercial tool operated by Jason Cox, volunteer
Treasurer of Dawn Mountain, Inc. and Dawn Mountain Tibetan Buddhist Temple. It lets the Treasurer
read the organizations' own accounting records from QuickBooks Online in order to review their
finances. It is not offered to the public, and no one other than the operator uses it.
## What the app accesses
When a QuickBooks Online company is connected, the app reads, through Intuit's QuickBooks Online
Accounting API, with the read access the company's administrator grants:
- company information (name and basic settings);
- the chart of accounts;
- transactions and journal entries, including entries that payroll posts;
- financial reports such as the balance sheet, profit and loss, and general ledger.
The app does not create, change or delete anything in QuickBooks. It does not access payment card
data, bank login credentials or Intuit account passwords. Sign-in happens on Intuit's own pages,
and the app receives only the access tokens Intuit issues.
## How the information is used
The information is used only to show the organizations' books to their Treasurer: statements,
budget comparisons, trends and journal entries for oversight and reporting to the board. It is not
used for advertising, profiling, marketing or any other purpose.
## Where it is stored
Data and tokens are stored only on the operator's own devices: a personal computer and an Android
phone. On the phone they are kept in an encrypted database. The app has no server of its own, and
the data is not uploaded to any service other than Intuit's.
## Sharing
The app does not sell, rent or share QuickBooks data with anyone. The only outside service it
communicates with is Intuit, to retrieve the data. Reports the Treasurer chooses to share with the
organizations' board, staff or accountants are shared in that role, as they would be from
QuickBooks itself.
## Keeping and deleting data
Data is kept for as long as the Treasurer needs it to oversee the organizations' finances. To stop
access, a company administrator can disconnect the app in QuickBooks Online (Settings → Apps), or
the operator can revoke it; the stored tokens then stop working. The operator deletes the locally
stored data when it is no longer needed, or on request from the organizations.
## Security
Access uses Intuit's OAuth 2.0 sign-in, and all communication with Intuit is encrypted (HTTPS).
Application keys and tokens are kept outside any shared code and on devices protected by the
operator's device security and encryption.
## Children
The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information about them.
## Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective
date.
